Fertility Awareness Method
Fertility Awareness Method is an approach to natural birth control where a woman tracks biomarkers of basal body temperature (BBT), cervical mucus (CM), and cervical position to determine their fertile and non-fertile phases.
Whilst you can learn about fertility awareness by yourself from books or even use an app, by working with an instructor you’ll have someone holding your hand and answering your questions as you go along. Your cycle is unique to you and having support whilst you get to know it can make a massive difference to your success at using the method and sticking with it!

The Sympto-Thermal Method (STM) has been used for over 50 years – it was developed when scientists discovered that women had a higher basal body temperature depending on which part of their cycle they were currently in – this was originally discovered in 1868 but not originally connected to finding the point of ovulation. By combining this finding with the fact that cervical mucus with the right properties needs to be present for the woman to be fertile the sympto-thermal method was developed.
My Approach
I teach FAM as a way of using the menstrual cycle as a vital sign for health, alongside being a side-effect-free method of contraception that allows you to conceive naturally when you are ready. I’ll teach you to use FAM (Fertility Awareness Methods) so you can track, understand and predict your own cycle.
I love sharing my knowledge with women and helping them understand how their body really works – something I believe should really be taught before we start our periods not later down the line. I am constantly learning myself and apply that knowledge into everything I teach too.
If you are planning to get pregnant in the next few years and want to avoid pregnancy for now and check that your cycle is optimised learning FAM now will help set you up for success later down the road.
For other women they may have had a terrible time with other kinds of contraception and FAM is the last option on their list. Or they’ve used an app and want something more reliable. Or they’re just fed up of using condoms all the time.

Programme Overview
Learn how to confidently use the Sympto-Thermal Method (STM) to chart your cycles and achieve your reproductive health desires.
Includes:
- introductory zoom call (90 minutes)
- 7-8 teaching and follow up sessions (45 to 60 minutes)
- Pre-recorded supplemental videos
- Additional resources through the course
- Digital handbook to go along with the course
- Support throughout the duration of the programme via email and WhatsApp.
A rough structure of the learning curve:
Session 1: Reproductive anatomy, reproductive hormone cycle, menstrual cycle, ovarian cycle, introduction to fertility awareness cycle charting, cervical mucus (CM) charting.
Session 2: (within one week of session 1) Review cervical mucus from session 1, cover basal body temperature (BBT) charting, cervical position charting, and introduce Sympto-Thermal Method (STM rules: CM, BBT, & cross-check).
Sessions 3-4: (every over week) Review STM rules (CM, BBT, & cross-check), fertility awareness learning curve, managing the fertile window, and conception strategies for fertility clients.
Session 5-8: (every 2-3 weeks) Review charts and address any underlying issues identified through charting.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- identify the time in your cycle that you are fertile
- confirm that you are ovulating
- understand your cervical fluid and vaginal secretion patterns
- feel empowered in your new found body literacy
